Private Plane Charter
67Private Plane Charter
Using a private plane charter rather than the commercial airlines has its advantages. One is able to leave when they want, according to their schedule. The aircraft does not leave until the passengers are onboard. Then it goes directly to the designated location and returns on the passenger's schedule. This says nothing about the luxury while in flight or the joy of bypassing busy terminals.
Private Airplane
Using a prop engine plane to fly has its rewards when being used as a private plane charter. The most significant being that it is the less expensive than a jet. The savings is due to many factors. An airplane is cheaper than a jet, uses less fuel, and takes less training to master. This means that more planes and pilots are available to take someone to where they need to go. Also, a prop plane uses less of a runway so they can travel to smaller airstrips in more remote places.
A private airplane charter is great for regional trips, where a car trip may take too much time. An airplane charter can get one there and back in one day, where a car trip may take one to two days. All the while one is not giving anything up in luxury. Many prop airplanes are outfitted just as nicely as a jet. The same amenities can be available- workspace, wide seating, restroom, and a gallery. It just depends on what one's needs are, an aircraft can be made available to fit those needs.
Private Jet
However, a private jet charter can get one much further and faster. A jet is the only choice if one needs to get coast to coast. Also, every jet will be well appointed with amenities as opposed to some prop planes, which could be very utilitarian. Another upside is that a jet charter service will provide more in the way of a concierge service. Just understand that this form of a private plane charter is expensive.
Some feel safer in a private jet as the expense of the jet will mean the owner will keep better maintenance on it and the pilots will be well trained on that aircraft. Jets have a better safety record but most aircraft accidents are due to amateur pilots or unprofessional pilots. Jet pilots will be very professional but you will be paying for that professionalism.
Ownership Versus Leasing
If one finds that they are using a private plane charter often they may want to consider aircraft ownership. Checking the numbers will be a good way to see if ownership makes financial sense. One form of private ownership that exists between jet leasing and private jet ownership is fractional ownership. Fractional ownership is when a number of people buy a jet collectively and then share the costs. However, a whole industry has grown up around this idea and now a fractional jet owner can enjoy the entire fleet. The fractional owner is limited to his one aircraft that he bought a share.
